Year in review [Dec. 21st, 2016|12:21 am]
Jeffington
Wow, reading last years entry saying 2015 was the best year ever for me, I can honestly say this year topped last! 2016 BROUGHT IT. Despite the evil oompa loompa being elected and the loss of Bowie, it was so fucking amazing. I had my Poppa go this year but he was ready and it was so lovely to celebrate his life with all my family.

I would probably say that this year was the best year ever! Being in your 30s is awesome :)

Highlights!!

THE TRIPS....We really went all out this year. I haven't traveled more in a year ever.

NOLA-Absolutley everything I hoped for and more. To share a sleeper car on a train across the country is so romantic. And New Orleans was fucking orgasmic. The food, the tours, the history, the food, the architecture, the food and the food!

COPENHAGEN AND STOCKHOLM- Its amazing when you find a travel bargain that takes you somewhere you had no plans to go to! Round trip $240 was too hard to pass up. I was expecting these cities to be similar but they were total opposite. Copenhagen was laid back, quiet, totally walkable, and has some cool sites like the hippie commune and the worlds oldest amusement park. Stockholm was hustle and bustle, great food, take public transport everywhere, and was able to go to a cool meeting out there. Overall a really great time.

COOK ISLANDS-RAROTONGA AND AUITUTAKI-Fucking beautiful. Clearest waters I have ever seen. Snorkeled my ass off, and learned how to have fun without doing anything. It was such a different pace then what I am used to. Read a bunch of books, drove around on the scooter, slept in a hut on the beach and made new friends. What an experience! Cant forget getting stranded on my paddle board and getting rescued from a big tourist boat hahahah.

NEW YORK CITY in July-Nothing like booking and planning a trip 12 hours before you get on the plane. What started out as a impulse buy to get Radiohead tickets to Madison Square Garden to resell, then finding out I can't resell them so WTF why not just go. Luckily was able to get a hotwire flight the next day that literally put me there just in time for the show. I wouldn't regret a thing. Those MSG shows were just to die for and the weekend with the boys was unforgettable.

BANFF and VANCOUVER CANADA-Just when I thought it don't get prettier than Cook Islands, we go to this magical place called Banff where the air is immaculate, the mountains look like matterhorn everywhere, the trees are green and full of life, and the lakes are so fucking beautiful it legit looks fake. This was by far the most beautiful place I have ever been to and I will return because I didn't get to do it all. Vancouver was pretty fun too. Canadians rule. I met some really wonderful people and went to some meetings out there. Great food and great times.

LONDON-Did I mention Im an impulsive traveler this year? When Bjork tix popped up on my phone while bored at Tigerheat I just decided to make it work. Being London SOBER for the first time honestly felt like my very first time there. We saw so much, had a glorious weekend in the Cotswolds, I fucking DROVE in the UK (never doing that again) and well don't get me started on the Bjork show. I really love it there. Their public transport is on point, there is so much to see and do, and its just like a place I could see myself living if I was a rich bitch.

TOKYO-Oh boy, I did not know what I was in for. Overall, this was THE trip of my lifetime. Everything and I mean everything about this place is so unique, so exciting, so out of this world, it just takes the cookie. I mean if there is a place I would tell anyone to go before they die, THIS IS IT. They are so far ahead of us all. The fashion, the food, the transport, the malls, the people, just everything. My mind was seriously fucked for a few weeks after I got back. Disney for two days there was so much fun too. Tokyo FORVER has my heart.

NEW YORK PART 2-Oh boy this was truly the best Christmas/Birthday/Anniversary trip a boy could ask for. From Mariah to Broadway to Drag Race to ice skating and bike riding in central park. The weekend in the cold with the boys and the home cooked meals. The christmas trees and decorations everywhere. It was so fun to stay in Manhattan again after staying in Brooklyn the past 4 times. The best way to end the year of amazing travels for sure.

PALM SPRINGS x 3- Fun waterpark family getaways!
LAS VEGAS X4 - Beautiful sister wedding, Gwen Stefani, and work work work next week!
OAKLAND/SF X5- Had some amazing Club 90s up there. Too bad the venue fucked us over :( hope we find a new one. But got to travel and make money at the same time. Lucky!

SHOWS

Bjork at Royal Albert Hall-Bjork with just her and 16 piece orchestra singing Ive Seen It All from Dance in the Dark in the fanciest and most historic venue in London or maybe the world? YEAH. Lets just say it was out of body and worth re arranging my whole life for.

Radiohead at MSG x2 and the Shrinex2

The last few times my 2nd fav band has come around Ive been pretty fucked up, so I made sure to make up for it this time around. All 4 of these shows were equally amazing. They are so great for changing up their setlists every night. Worth every penny. They sounded beautiful. I would say setlist wise MSG night one wins by a smidgen. Seat wise, night one at the Shrine being in row 2 wins by a landslide. Experience wise, tie for night 2 MSG screaming Creep along with 20,000 while holding Sarah Kapoor was one for the books and night 2 of Shrine showing up with no tickets, making a sign with no luck, being caught trying to sneak in, and eventually convincing someone to sell me his ticket almost half way into the show only to run up as close as I could and meeting an amazing older gentleman who let me stand with him was SO FUN.

The Strokes at the Wiltern

ERMMMAHGAWWD I fucking love these boys. This show was STELLAR. Setlist was perfect. Nonstop energy and such a great venue to see one of my all time favorite bands! Worth standing in line for 7 hours for (but probably the last time I do that)

Gwen Stefani and Eve at T Mobile in Vegas and Irvine Meadows final show

I enjoyed Gwens album but to hear it live was even better. And I just lost it when she did her songs with Eve. Both shows were special because we were soon close in Vegas but I was kind of taking lots of pics. Irvine I just enjoyed the moment and danced my ass off with Vanessa in my banana costume as she played the very last show at that shitty venue.

Dolly Parton at the Hollywood Bowl

Wow was not expecting to ball like a little baby. What really sets Dolly from the rest is her storytelling. I could listen to her talk for days. It was such a fun experience with the people I love so much.

the Bad Boy Reunion at the Forum

Talk about the ultimate throwback from the past! I am SO glad I went to this show, even if it was a solo outing. I knew it would be a special night because it was the last stop. Wasn't expecting him to bring out every fucking hip hop artist I grew up listening to and loving though. Puff Daddy, Made, Lil Kim, 112, The Lox, Mary J Blige, DMX, Total, Nas, and freakin DR. DRE and SNOOP DOGG to bring east coast and west coast together! WOOOOW

Mariah Carey at the Beacon

This divvvva is hilarious and still belted it out like no other. Got upgraded to some dope seats and enjoyed getting into the Christmas spirit. She went ALL OUT with a gospel choir, two dance troupes, decorations overload and even Santa. Great great show

KROQ Weenie Roast at Irvine Meadows

I don't know if Ive danced that much ever at a show. Thanks to my Sister, we had a blast. The lineup was on point and I got to snag a pic with Shirley!

Britney Spears in Vegas

Cant believe we got to be so close to Britney bitch! I enjoyed it for what it was. I LOVE her music and she sang all my favorites (or actually lip synced to them but its cool)

Garbage at the Hollywood Forever cemetery

Never disappoints! What would the world be without Shirley Manson. So fun to experience with bunch of sober pals at the amazing venue.

Coldplay at the Rose Bowl

What a special show seeing my boys who I saw at the Wiltern in 2002 all the way to selling out 2 nights at the Rose Bowl. The light up wristbands, fireworks, and energy of the audience were such a fun bonus and it was amazing seeing them sing Don't Panic!

The Cure at the Hollywood Bowl

This band has still got it. Such a great time with Jennie and seeing such an iconic act in great seats playing for almost 3 hours.

JOBS

Club 90s is my baby and I hope it doesn't go anywhere. We had some unbelievable events this year. I got to DJ for 1500 people in one room, travel to Oakland to sell out parties, move around and try new ideas and themes (Bjork, Michael and Janet, Nirvana, ect) I love love love my job and wouldn't trade it for the world

My internship at Judge Mathis productions from January to September was epic. I had the COOLEST boss ever and to be able to get that kind of experience and get paid while doing it is really hard to find. I got super lucky and Im forever grateful.

PROGRAM

On step 11 now, did some great work this year, was secretary at my favorite meeting, spoke on my first panel, created life long memories with sober friends.

GYM

Really stepped up working out this year. It was the thing that was missing in my life. I found that classes are really the only thing that will really give a me a goof workout. Ive been working out almost every day this week and feel sooooo great.

SCHOOL- Spring semester was light but fun and took fall off to travel. Im looking forward to next sememested and (hopefully) finishing up by next year this time or spring 2017!

S0 YES, I REALLY don't think anything could top this year, and Im ok with that. If I died tonight I would say this year alone was worth it all.

I am SO grateful. For my Andy and 13 years of love, for my higher power, my program, my job, my sponsor, my babies, my family, my friends and just life. THANK YOU GOD

forever young [Aug. 9th, 2016|01:56 pm]

Summer has been nuts this year. Been traveling like no other. Also, my 17 year old concert addict has come back. Pulled up Radiohead tickets in NYC the day before the show and somehow made it out there just in time. Incredible shows. Sarah came with me night two and we got Creep, it was so magical and nostalgic.

Thursdays LA RH Shrine show was fucking amazing as I was able to pull up row 2 seats hours before the show. I danced my ass off to Myxamatosis and got to experience it with Vanessa. Then last night was the final LA show and I had no tickets. I was literally online the entire day and nothing came up unlike Thursdays show. I headed to the venue and had Michele bring me materials to make a sign. Desperate times called for desperate measures. No one had tickets to sell because their strict rules. I waited for 4 hours with no luck and when the band when on I thought maybe I should go home but something told me to stay. I met a dude who said I should try sneaking in, and after a very hilarious failed attempt of crawling under the barrier of the smoking patio causing the metal to scratch and getting caught I still didnt give up.

Somehow I haggled, begged and pleaded someone to sell me their ticket for $100 after he originally wanted $500. I ran in and just walked as close as I could and ended up being next to a real cool dude who has seen Radiohead all over the world, he knew my struggle and moved over a bit so I could stand next to him dead center in the 14th row and bask in the second half of Radioheads glory. Sometimes the journey is just as fun as the destination.

My Radiohead tour may be over (for now muhaha) but got plenty of fun and exciting things coming up including Gwen in Vegas, Coldplay, Canada, then my queen Bjork at Royal Albert Hall in London!

2016 [Dec. 31st, 2015|05:01 pm]
Jeffington
I would probably say that this year was the best year ever! Being in your 30s is awesome :)

Highlights!!

SHOWS

Chemical Bros at Hard festival- This was my favorite show of the year, and who would have known? It was a solo adventure to Pomona, their set was so epic and the visuals were to die for. Everyone was dancing and going crazy, it felt so great to have that energy with such a magnificent group who blew me away!

Garbage at the Greek-Yet another solo adventure! But errhmagawd to see Shirls and the gang play that album and all the b sides was so magical. And the amazing spot against the barrier was awesome too. Shirley was so funny that night cause they fucked up a bunch. She is just so open and cool. I appreciate this band so much for doing something like this, I wish other bands (ahem NO DOUBT) would do something similar, but I DOUBT it!

Bjork at Carnegie Hall-This was a rollercoaster of a show, what show starts at NOON and NOON SHARP? Even though we got their on time we were in the lobby chilling and we hear her singing my favorite song of her new album! And the bastards wouldn't let us in until the second song :( Then after 30 minutes of her set she runs off stage and says goodbye, me not realizing there was an intermission and almost had a breakdown! Once I let everything settle in it was a beautiful show and the most beautiful venue I have ever been to. We are lucky to have experienced the very first time she performed that album.

Gwen Stefani at the Orpheum-I was so impressed by this show! She sang so many freaking songs. I wasn't expecting that. And she she kept me dancing the whole time. It was fun getting MasterCard surprises too

No Doubt, the Killers, 311, X and more at Kaboo-Was able to be Melissas photo sidekick, and had such a fun weekend. We got to see Gwen raw and freshly heartbroken. It was nice having special press privileges all weekend, being able to rest and get water and snacks all day, and having good spots for the bands!

Deftones at the Observatory-A solo adventure down to Costa Mesa in line all day to get a front row spot for one of my favorite bands. Chino can do no wrong and it was worth it all.

Smashing Pumpkins and Marilyn Manson at Irvine Meadows- One of the best rock shows, with great sing a longs and energy. Melissa was the best partner in crime and Billy was on point when he said Im just gonna shut up and play music. So great having Jimmy back too. And Manson was the perfect opener.

Blur at Hollywood Bowl-Lovely seeing these gents with all my besties dancing and singing and having a ball!

Coldplay at the Belasco x2- It paid to stick around the venue and get in first for a very special show. The band played a short acoustic set the first time because the Paris attacks, but it was so special and intimate, I felt like I was just hanging out in Chris living room. Their cover of Imagine was beautiful, but what really made my night and was pretty much the most surprising and best music moment of the year was when they played SPARKS off of the Parachutes album. The second show was your typical high energy thing which was good too, it was cool seeing them back in such a tiny place before they play arenas and stadiums next year.

Janet Jackson and Santa Barbara Bowl-My very first time seeing my childhood idol. She's still got it. Our seats were so great and it was a fun day with Jason and Vince.

Florence and the Machine at the Ace-Had a wonderful time with my sister seeing a special acoustic Flo set. She is another charming and lovable artist!

Grace Jones at Hollywood Bowl- a living legend showing us what DIVA means!

Peaches at the Regent-The queen of electroclash has still got it

The Used at the Palace-A fun acoustic special show that made me appreciate them so much more. And the fact that Bert has 3 years sober like me and looked and sounded amazing was so inspiring. It was so cool that he was so open about it too.

Black Rivers in OC-Awesome seeing 2/3 of Doves in a tiny space!

Basement Jaxx at Hollywood Bowl-A perfect summer dance party

Karen O at Soho Playhouse NYC-A fun night on Andys birthday in a intimate theatre with the indie queen!

Fiona Apple and Beck at the Oprheum- A cool 60s tribute KCRW show. Wish Fiona would have sang more than one song, but it was still a cool show.

Cabaret, Hedwig and Fish in the Dark on Broadway- I really LOVED all these shows. So happy we got to see so many on our New York trip. Seeing the OG Hedwig John Cameron Mitchell was fucking epic. Seeing the OG Emcee Allen Cumming was also fucking epic. And you can go wrong with Larry David!

TRIPS

BALI-So beautiful, spiritual, relaxing
HAWAII-Lush, lovely, serene
NEW YORK CITY-Still maybe my favorite city in the world. The food, the shows, the everything
PORTLAND-Best food destination of the year, first time and I loved it.
MEXICO-So amazing reconnecting with my family. Sad I didn't get to say bye to my Grandma, she passed the day before I was going to visit her.
SANTA CRUZ-Family vacay and first time to such a cute town
BIG BEAR-Cabin life and summer hikes with my man and kids
SAN FRAN-Fun times stair hiking through Berkely and staying with Julie and Chris
PALM SPRINGS-Got to spend my 3 year sober bday at a meeting and then with Andy and Melissa, relaxing pool time and fun.
VEGAS-Lazy river, too much gambling, and bomb ass food.

JOBS

So grateful Club 90s blew up this year. Its seemed to have fizzled out a little. Im not sure what the future is but either way it is such a fun party and I got to be so creative this year so it was so worth it no matter what happens! Tigerheat also seems to be dying out a little, I guess we will see where 2016 takes us.

PROGRAM

Found an amazing new sponsor and starting the steps again. Finally became secretary of a meeting starting next year wooooo! Met so many amazing people and have near and dear friends to my heart who keep me sober.

SCHOOL-Continued 2 more semesters with straight A's across the board! At times I loathed it but I also really enjoyed it at times.

BRING IT ON 2016!

The Year End Review [Dec. 30th, 2014|10:16 pm]
Jeffington
2014 was a wild ride. I would say it had more high then lows, but some of the lows were truly devastating.

SHOWS

No Doubt at the Forum (Secret Show)

This show almost didn't happen for me but my gut told me to try and get in and Im so glad I did because it was such a fun experience. Seeing them in the Forum with only a few hundred people in the audience was so cool. And they played a long setlist which included some nice surprises.

Lady Gaga ARTRAVE at Staples Center

She continues to blow my mind and prove to be the Queen Pop. Her show was the biggest dance party of the year for me and I had such a fun time dressing up and partying with my BFFS.

Lana Del Rey at Hollywood Forever and Phoenix

Even though it was pretty much the same setlist and only 13 songs both times, I thoroughly enjoyed these shows and she sounds so much better now live. Hopefully we get to see her at the Bowl (I freaking told her in person to play there so I should be there!)

Beyonce and Jay Z at the Rose Bowl

When they performed Drunk In Love I felt a feeling of having a baby/orgasm/freakiness/ghetto I had never felt. It was a great show besides it being borderline cultish and creepy. Beyonce looked like a witch but sounded like an angel. Wish there was less Jay Z but some of his songs were fun.

KROQ Acoustic Christmas

Although I was wrongfully dragged out by security during my favorite bands set, the rest of the show was a blast, seeing Weezer, Interpol, Tears for Fears and No Doubt rule the Forum. Smashing Pumpkins aka Billy Corgan and his Ego was the biggest disappointment besides the fucking douchebag security.

Coldplay at Sony Studios

Wasn't expecting much from this but this show blew my mind. The environment alone with the roundabout stage and the visuals overhead was stunning and the band sounded flawless. A lot of people hate on Coldplay and even though Im not as big of a fan as I used to be, they won my heart back.

Interpol at the Fox Pomona

Love these babies. Great setlist and sounded clean and perfect. Paul Banks is amazing. I still miss my Carlos.

New Order/La Roux at the Greek
80s Dance party!!! Loved the Joy Division tribute and it was such a fun date night.

Karen O at the Hollywood Forever

My first time in the Masonic Lodge, her stripped down acoustic set was beautiful. She is the coolest chick ever!

I might be forgetting a lot. But maybe not. I didn't go to enough shows this year :(

TRIPS

This was the first year in a while we didn't venture out the country, but we explored a lot of the country.

AUSTIN

By far the highlight trip of the year. I freaking love it there. Sclitterbahn watermark was a blast, staying in a cabin inside the waterpark, the drive through zoo, the amazing amazing food, getting tatted, kayaking, floating, jumping off bridges. That trip could have been my favorite trip ever!

PHOENIX

Took a little trip here to see Lana. Ended up really enjoying Phoenix and was shocked by how fun it was.

LAUGHLIN/NEEDLES/GRAND CANYON

Fun mini river tribe turned gambling trip turned seeing the freaking Grand Canyon in all its majestic glory. Pictures do not do it justice it is so surreal and crazy.

PALM SPRINGS/JOSHUA TREE

Seemed to have a few trips here, the one that stood out most is when we took our babies. They loved going to the dog park and chillin at the Saguero. Palm Springs is so cute and I wanna retire there! Also visited Joshue Tree for the first time ever. Loved it.

JOBS

Once again things came and went. No big deal. I am just grateful new doors always seem to open as others close.

PROGRAM

Finally finished my steps, but Ive lost touch with my sponsor and really need to change. A goal for the New Year. But glad I was still able to go to at least one meeting a week all year.

SCHOOL

AHHHH! Cant believe I went back, and how much fun and positive it was for me. I got all A's and my film got through all the way to the advance screenings, then got voted 3rd place. I am excited to go back next semester but the break has been nice.

All these wildly positive things this year but I can never forget the huge life change this year with the loss of Piper. I will forever miss her. Not having her has been a challenge for myself but even bigger challenge for Andy. There are times when I can't believe its really happened. I try not to get to deep into thought of it because its overwhelming sadness. But I am lucky to be surrounded with all the love that she left with her family.

Excited for the new year. Portland in 2 weeks then Hawaii 2 weeks later. Got to get as much traveling done with the semester starting back up in a month !

Summertime happiness [Jul. 17th, 2013|12:46 am]
Jeffington
The past few weeks have been insanely fun. My nephew came down from Vegas to stay with my parents. Andy and I went down there and took them to The wild animal park. Then later on in the week we went to legoland. He is such a cute kid. I just hope and pray he has a good loving life back home.

Also took Andy's nieces and nephews to boomers for mini golf and bumper boats then knotts Soak city the next day. Loved spending time with them and laughing so hard going down the huge funnel slide and relaxing in the huge lazy river.

Andy sister Jody got married to Patrick and we went with them to their honeymoon lol to pala casino. Didn't lose too much and luckily Jody who had lost almost $200 won it all back at the very end of the night.

Been really enjoying the outdoors as well. Took the puppies to the park and the beach in malibu last week. Today we went with Jason and Vince to Santa Barbara where Andy rescued to trapped dogs from the creek for their old lady owner who couldn't get down there.

Other than that I've been djing a (had a blast spinning blue Mondays 90s night last night and headlining level 3) and going tort to meetings (been pro longing step 8 oops )

I love summer! Can't wait for save ferris next weekend
